Ashton Gate Redevelopment

Background

Situated at the gateway to Bristol City Centre, on the site of the Ashton Gate train station, this development aimed to transform the area with the construction of nine apartment blocks to provide a mix of residential housing, alongside modern commercial and retail units. BCL Groundworks Ltd selected us as their partner due to our proven track record in delivering high-quality design, formwork, and falsework essential for projects like this.

Project Challenges

The project presented several significant challenges, primarily managing frequent and unexpected design changes, all while maintaining the highest health and safety standards. This required us to be agile and responsive, with close collaboration between our teams and BCL Groundworks Ltd. Regular on-site meetings ensured that we could address design adjustments promptly, without compromising safety or project timelines. With seven out of nine blocks being constructed simultaneously, the coordination of multiple trades on-site and the optimisation of equipment usage became critical. Our team streamlined logistics, minimising deliveries and collections to reduce congestion and maximise the efficiency of the available space. In addition to this, we provided BCL with detailed optimisation lists that aligned with our temporary work designs, ensuring the existing on-site equipment was utilised to its full potential.
