Titan breaks box office records
What are believed to be some of the UK’s largest flying tableforms of recent years have been used during the construction of a ten-storey office development undertaken by Taylor Wimpey at Gants Hill, Essex.
The 115 square metre tableforms, some three to four times larger than conventional tables, were used following consultation between the specialist structural sub- contractor and Ischebeck Titan.
Column positions and the presence of a central podium slab at Gants Hill meant that a scheme could be devised which would exploit the benefits that a large table offers. The challenge was to find a formwork company that could offer the expertise to design the table, together with a system that delivers the stiffness necessary to ensure success, this is where Ischebeck Titan beats the competition.
The large tableforms are part of an extensive formwork scheme, which includes numerous other tables of varying sizes employed throughout the project.
The large tables created a substantial area of deck formwork in a single lift. Not only does this enhance safety on site, but it also makes a significant contribution towards productivity by alleviating pressure on crane time and maintaining the construction programme.
